First and foremost, I send love and light to lamcal during this grieving time. 💔

As to your capital letter situation, I was so used to your writing without them that it might take me a while to get used to the standard form here.

I loved the tidbit of historical context on how uppercase letters and lowercase letters got their names.

And last but not least, I found hope this week in a wedding announcement received from two beautiful souls who are just a wee bit younger than me. ♥️

Love, hh

lamcal! Sending love to dear lamcal!

Re this post, I loved learning all the things, and that last paragraph is a gut punch. Have been thinking of my beloveds whose sensitive systems struggle in this hot garbage air and praying for health for you folks especially and mercy for all the little animals. So grateful for the moment of rain this afternoon. My hope this week derives from working on art projects all week with a bunch of little kids who are always so interesting, so aware, so fun, and so joyful.

The hope I found this week happened on Monday when I was blessed to be able to spend the afternoon with 2 of my grandchildren. At 13 and almost 11, they aren't as much fun as they used to be, prefer screen time to any type of entertainment that worked a few years ago, but we did have fun with lots of laughter. It was a great diversion from the ways of the world which unfortunately consumes too many of my thoughts. And, reading your fascinating research about big letters, small letters, punctuation, etc, also gives me something different to think about. I'm happy that you came to conclusion about this situation. Your lack of so-called propriety never bothered me.

What does bother me is this awful smoke. I thought about you yesterday. I hope you are tucking yourself inside your house and that you are able to stay there until this smoky problem blows out of here. And yes, it was spooky quiet this morning. Not a bit of bird song or even a bird sighting. So sad. It all reminds me of what Rachel Carson predicted in Silent Spring.

Sending lots of love to lamcal. I hope she knows that she is being lifted in prayer by many.

i hope she knows that too. and i totally trust that she feels the mighty surge. we always do. i know i've felt it in my darkest, most alone hours. Chair Winds are mighty winds.....

and, yes, alas, Silent Spring, followed by Silent Silent Smoky Summer.....

i find it, hope, in the bee that slumbered in a marigold overnight and in the second cup of tea that makes of the dregs a slightly altered version of my first cuppa.

what an absolute joy to read you here, bm. just a joy.

yours, sbb

Thanks for the connecting and comforting thoughts Barb. Our son, Patrick, passed away last week after many years of struggle with mental health affliction and drug use to self medicate. He was a lovely, thought full, brilliant creative guy. It is a tough loss and we are grieving, but also so grateful for the loving support of friends and family. Our Patrick is somewhere in the mystery of the universe making his way to peace. We truly believe that. His earthly time was always a struggle.

Much of my spiritual practice has been a combo of western/eastern work and I am aligning with the Buddhist belief that there is a 49 days transition for Pat’s spirit to move through the Bardo toward his next realm and peace. Pat was never one to accept anything easily or quickly, so it fits. 😉 His 49th day will be 9/2. It gives us all time to adjust.

There is so much wisdom in various spiritual practices.

“In the Buddhist view, the deceased is in the bardo state during this period, highly unstable and easily pulled by karmic forces. Family members can help by dedicating acts of kindness, chanting, or charitable giving to the deceased. Think of it as sending a strong reference letter to someone stuck in limbo between jobs.”

So we keep that in mind and keep going. Pulling Up A Chair has always been a comforting place to end my week and pick up some wisdom from Barbara and the other Chairs. Thanks for always being a place of Hope. ☮️🕊️❤️‍🩹
